"I Want - The Medley"

Lisa Howard sang "Jenny's Blues," the most walloping, showstopping "I Want" song of the 2015 Broadway season in It Shoulda Been You. When assembling her Feinstein's/54 Below, show she approached me to create a medley which would pay homage to some previous anthems sung by the female lead hoping to surpass their current latitude.

What do you do when your marriage dissolves and you're a Broadway performer? You sing about it! And you sing about it in show-tunes. I wrote this medley with complete trust from Heather Parcells turning a disparaging time in her life into something hilarious; after all, comedy = tragedy + time, right?

You are cast in the Broadway revival of 1975's super-duper, record-breaking, smash-a-rooney A Chorus Line; the iconic story, the iconic dancing, the iconic songs... only to find out you're playing Judy Turner and you haven't got an iconic song. What do you do? Just as Heather Parcells does, you sing everyone else's.
